    Hi Lisa -

I found your name through Linked In and I hope it is ok to contact you directly, rather than through an introduction. I am somewhat new to Linked In and do not have my network completed. I have come across a job posting through Mediabistro.com for a Senior Art Director, Print Communications, at Tufts.

This is a perfect situation for me, as the job description fits my experience and goals perfectly. I am an experienced Art Director and have designed for corporate and brand identity, logo, packaging, apparel, brochure, catalog, print advertisement, poster, POP, sell sheet, direct mail postcard, interactive email blast, and Web.

I am currently the Senior Designer and Production Editor for Metrowest, Newton, and Brookline Magazines. As the Senior Designer, I create layouts, typography treatments, and style sheets. As the Production Editor, I work directly with the editors of each magazine to proofread and copy edit. I also write headers, subheads, and captions; as well as choose pull-quotes, assemble illustrations, and choose images.

As I’m sure you know, connections are everything. Please feel free to view my portfolio at johnfogartydesign.com to see just a few samples of magazine layouts and other work, as well as my resume.

I would appreciate any type of recommendation to any of your connections at Tufts, should you feel comfortable with such a gesture. Please call or email with any questions and/or comments. Thank you for your time.
